Developed as a tree nursery in 1956, we have been producing Alberta Fruits, Berries, Pumpkins and Vegetables for 40 years. Specializing in growing tree fruits, strawberries and culinary pumpkins, we developed a line of pumpkin products, ranging from pumpkin chutney to pumpkin butter and jam.
Supply foraged wild plants, such wild raspberry, stinging nettle and sweet grass for teas and culinary purposes. We are the world’s furthest north Blue Pumpkin producer! In addition to adding value to vegetable and berry crops, we also offers u-pick strawberries, pumpkins, tart cherries and apples.
Purple Gem Farms grows, packs and freezes Saskatoon berries in the orchard near Millet, AB 40 acres of mature Saskatoon bushes provides between 60,000 to 120,000 lbs of berries yearly in late July depending on the weather. Now with the new cleaning and packing facility, berries no longer have to be sent out of province for primary processing. Purple Gem Farms is one of the very few Saskatoon orchards in Canada that is Canada Gap certified and is working on a HACCP plan.
