We are a family run company that produces a variety of goat milk products. This includes whole goat milk, chevre, hard goat cheeses and yoghurt. We strive to us as many other local products in our production as we can. We sell our products at farmers markers, and throughout stores in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Brooks mostly.
Shirley's Greenhouse is a 40,000 square feet greenhouse and 20 acre garden. We grow our produce without the use of pesticides/herbicides using the best quality non-GMO seeds. It is a 36 year old business. Shirley's Greenhouse is a 35 year business. Jo and Pete, the new owners took over the greenhouse in Jan 2024 with the commitment to continue growing the same high quality food that Shirley's is known for. We mix lots of micro-nutrients (like iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium etc) in water and grow plants hydroponically. . We also control the temperature inside the greenhouse using our boiler, fans and automatic roof venting system. We let the vegetables ripen on the vines and do not use sprays for the purpose. Every month we buy good bugs(one of our big expense) to kill the bad bugs so that we don't have to use pesticides on our plants.

I have 17 years of food safety and quality experience: 15 years in beverage manufacturing and 2 years with a national grocery chain's distribution centers. I graduated from SAIT as a chemical technologist and found my place in the brewing industry where I work in quality assurance. After a few years I was asked to implement a GFSI (BRCGS) food safety program. I successfully led that program for 10 years while also managing the QA department and QMS in 2 other satellite breweries. As the company grew its contract manufacturing division, the food safety program became more complex. I became well versed in contract manufacturing requirements, change management, new equipment programs, and learning resourceful ways to have full control in brewing and blending processes. As non-alc entered the industry, I gained valuable knowledge of pasteurization, and new risks. I have a hefty folder of food safety certificates in HACCP, vulnerability, BRCGS, and more. I moved on to work for a national grocery chain overseeing their food safety program in the distribution centers' for all of western Canada. I gained a strong understanding of food safety during transport and in warehouses. Since becoming a consultant 2 years ago, i have worked with more beverage companies as well as a small broth company. I look forward to helping small businesses of all types!
