Food and Beverage Canada (FBC) is a national industry association dedicated to bolstering the Canadian food and beverage manufacturing sector through leadership, advocacy, and outreach. As a proud member of FBC, the Alberta Food Processors Association (AFPA) actively collaborates to advance the industry’s interests. Notably, AFPA’s Executive Director, Bianca Parsons, serves on FBC’s Board, ensuring Alberta’s food processors have a strong voice in national discussions.
FBC addresses critical issues affecting the industry, including:
- Trade Relations and Tariffs: FBC advocates against unjust trade practices, such as the recent 25% tariffs imposed by the United States on Canadian goods. In response, Canada has taken legal action and implemented retaliatory measures to protect its industries.
- Labour Challenges: Recognizing the industry’s reliance on a skilled workforce, FBC works to address labour shortages and advocates for policies that support workforce development and retention.
- Innovation: FBC promotes innovation by supporting research and development initiatives, facilitating knowledge transfer, and advocating for policies that encourage technological advancements within the sector.
- Regulatory Environment: FBC engages with policymakers to ensure that regulations are fair, science-based, and conducive to industry growth, while maintaining high standards for food safety and quality.
Through these efforts, FBC strives to create a favourable business environment for Canada’s food and beverage manufacturers, ensuring their continued success and contribution to the national economy.
