Hot Jobs!

Thinking about a career in the agri-food industry?
Good choice!

The agri-food industry, which includes any work related to the production, processing and distribution of food products, directly or indirectly employs one in three Albertans and that number keeps on growing! Why? Because the industry is growing - so fast, in fact, that many employers tell us they are constantly on the lookout for good workers to meet the demands for growth. There are jobs here for everyone - people persons, tech types, hands-on workers - anyone who enjoys work in a challenging and fast paced work environment. The opportunities are there - maybe you should be, too!

Just to give you some sense of the possibilities, we have prepared some profiles of real people and real jobs in Alberta companies. Each profile describes a person who holds a "hot job" - up and coming jobs in the industry that employers told us are on their "most likely to be hiring more of..." list. As we tell their stories, put yourself in their shoes. Do you see yourself in their words? If so, maybe that's a job you should investigate more closely. If you want more information about careers in the industry contact our AFPA Team.

The Alberta Food Processors Association would like to thank all the individuals we profiled for their participation and enthusiasm. As well, we would like to thank the Alberta companies where they work:

  • Cool Spring Water
  • El Molino Foods of Canada Ltd.
  • Harimex
  • Heritage Foods Ltd.
  • Kraft Canada Inc.
  • Labatt Breweries Alberta
  • Nakodo Consulting
  • Old Dutch Foods Ltd.
  • Parmalat Canada
  • Saxby Foods Ltd.
  • Weston Bakeries Ltd.
  • XL Foods Inc.

Special thanks to Karen Hammond of Hammond and Associates for her talent on this project as well as Alberta Human Resources and Employment for their support.
