AFPA's Role in Human Resources
AFPA's Placement Services
AFPA maintains a database of resumes. Individuals looking
for work can send their resume to janet@afpa.com
to be included in the inventory database. Employers wishing to access the resumes
may do so for a nominal fee per position search.
The Alberta Food Processors Association (AFPA)
encourages the development of programs, policies and strategies to help address
the human resource development needs of Alberta's food processing industry.
To facilitate these goals, AFPA is focusing its energies on the following activities:
- Assist the industry to become an employer of choice
AFPA is working with industry to encourage corporate lifelong learning within
the food processing industry. Flexible companies with the ability to constantly
learn will harness the only true competitive advantage, knowledge. AFPA has
attracted stakeholders who want to assist the industry in the development
of its human resources.
- Improving the quality and quantity of training
for the industry
AFPA has become an important player in coordination of industry's training
needs. AFPA encourages training providers to develop accredited programs which
are responsive to industry, practical and accessible for the learner.
- Assist industry connect with those looking for work
AFPA assists those looking for work to connect with companies looking for
workers. In addition to a placement type function, AFPA identifies wage subsidies
and grants available to assist in the hiring and skill development of workers.
- Increase the awareness of food processing as a viable
career option for youth
AFPA is working with industry and secondary and post secondary institutions
to increase the awareness of the variety of careers within the food processing
industry.
