English in the Workplace Train the Trainer

IS 4-4-4-2 ENOUGH FOR YOUR WORKERS?

Workers at level 4 likely cannot do the following without translation and/or significant support:

  • participate in technical training; understand videos or speakers
  • fully comprehend the impact and importance of OH&S regulations/training
  • train others, with any level of explanation
  • be promoted to positions of higher responsibility with greater communication
  • complete moderately complex forms
  • independently complete an accident report

AFPA TO OFFER AN ENGLISH IN THE WORKPLACE TRAIN THE TRAINER PROGRAM

As many of your know, the Alberta Immigration Nominee Program requires workers attain Canadian Language Benchmarks of 4-4-4-2 for English proficiency.

AFPA proposes to develop and deliver an English in the Workplace Train the Trainer and Mentoring Program, to provide expert training & coaching for to up to ten ESL instrctors based in food processing plants.  This program would be developed & deliverd by individuals with expertise in the Canadian Language Benchmarks, English in the Workplace needs analysis, instruction & evaluation.  Following a brief needs assessment of your plant (approximately 8 hours), a comprehensive 2-day training program would be developed & delivered to all EWP trainers, followed by 6-8 weeks of coaching/mentoring by the course instructor(s).  This coaching/mentoring will take the form of an average 1-2 hour per week per company support by telephone & email, with at least 1 onsite visit & training observation.
