Program Building - teaches how to build your safety program. Topics to be covered are:

  • Company H&S policy and management commitment
  • Hazard identification, risks and risk management
  • Inspection programs
  • Worker training and emergency response training
  • Program administration
  • Legislation
  • Developing a health and safety manual

Internal Auditor - Provides a background in the basic principles and practices in the Partnerships audit process. Enables successful participants to use the Partnerships Audit Instrument as a base for planning, executing, and reporting on the health and safety program of any organization. Ensures participants understand the role and the purpose of audits in general and audits within the Partnerships program in particular.

Hazard Assessment - Identifying hazards, evaluating the risks presented by them and controlling each hazard before it injures someone, causes property damage, or interferes with your company's work. This competency-based course includes: Introduction to hazard identification; assessment and control; hazard reporting; how to conduct the following types of hazard assessment:

  • Routine Hazard Assessments
  • Field Level / Site Specific, Non-Routine Hazard Assessments
  • When Equipment or Processes are New or Changed
  • Evaluating Hazardous Products

Incident and Accident Investigation - Investigating incidents and accidents to learn from them and to prevent them from recurring. The following will be covered:

  • Initial response to incidents and accidents
  • Collecting evidence and information
  • Analyzing the information
  • Determining causes
  • Temporary and long-term corrective actions
  • Communicating findings

Roles and Responsibilities for Managers and Supervisors - Objectives are to learn what the key elements are to a health and safety program; to see your program as a system that impacts on due diligence; to understand what your role and responsibilities are within the scope of these elements and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code; to identify the underlying factors which affect the quality of a health and safety management system. Program elements are:

  • Management Leadership and Organizational Commitment
  • Hazard Identification and Assessment
  • Hazard Control
  • Inspections
  • Qualifications, Orientation and Training
  • Emergency Response
  • Accident and Incident Investigation
  • Program Administration

WHMIS Train-the-Trainer - What you need to know to run an effective WHMIS training session in your plant. Easy to understand material is suitable for low literacy levels. Comes with a Trainer Manual, a Worker Manual, quizzes, answer keys, overheads, etc.

Introduction to Confined Space Entry
A course that introduces students to the fundamentals of confined space entry. This course is geared towards workers who work in confined space. As well this is also appropriate training for the supervisor. Actual scenarios will be presented and students must determine the correct procedure for dealing with these scenarios.

  • The definition of confined spaces
  • The inherent hazards of confined space entry
  • The basics of atmospheric testing
  • How to permit for confined spaces
  • A Code of Practice for Confined Spaces
